If Ian is still interested, he may want to know that Cornelia Funke wrote a sequel to Dragon Rider, called A Griffin's Feather, which picks up the story two years later. Ben and Twigleg are still living with the Greenbloom family (now living in Norway, working in a sanctuary for endangered magical creatures, and attempting to hand-rear a clutch of orphaned pegasus-foals), while Firedrake, now married to Maia and about to become a father, is effectively the leader of the colony of dragons in the Himalayas. Since their responsibilities limit how often they can see each other, Ben is increasingly frustrated and wondering whether to go to join Firedrake, while Twigleg is struggling to cope with the fact that he is probably the last homunculus in the world. When Ben and Professor Greenbloom have to go on a quest for a griffin's feather, Professor Greenbloom makes Ben promise not to tell Firedrake, in case they lead the dragon into danger. Ben has to decide where his loyalties really lie.Temple Cloudhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06118247318945679509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-657368378863560055.post-82184078172658737402017-12-11T00:16:10.543-05:002017-12-11T00:16:10.543-05:00I really liked that part of the story with Necile ...I really liked that part of the story with Necile bringing up baby Santa. I lived in NYCity on West 88th Street and worked at HBJ as a young editor in the textbook division. Deborah, I think I stayed with you in S.F. in 1977, when I first arrived .. a sad time in your life. I just want to send greetings across the ether, my very best to Judy and John (whom I've lost touch with, sadly), and blessings to all of you. Annie, I saw your name on a column on tonight's PBS NewsHour and sat up straight -- I knew it was you. I knew you as a baby. Anyway, no need to take this any further except to please pass on my love to Judy and John; I hope they are well. I have retired from a career in editing software documentation and now live in Austin, TX. -- Ellen Perry perryfree@gmail.comUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02512953184163844785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-657368378863560055.post-70546857463059159762016-09-08T00:22:59.619-04:002016-09-08T00:22:59.619-04:00Ms. Thomas (Annie?): how funny that I randomly tho...Ms. Thomas (Annie?): how funny that I randomly thought of you today, googled your whereabouts, and stumbled on your lovely blog - a day after Kasia (above, and my classmate!). Oh my goodness, if you've never encountered Squirrel Girl before, I highly recommend seeking out the recent "Unbeatable Squirrel Girl" graphic novels -- there are two volumes out now and they are so much fun! Squirrel Girl is a completely awesome superheroine (and very funny) who can really defeat anyone...I bet all your kids would like those, although a lot of the jokes went over my 3-year-old's head. And Shannon Hale is currently writing a novel version of the Squirrel Girl story which I also expect to be wonderful. They're a great follow-up to Princeless and Rapunzel's Revenge! :)<br />(Also, I feel your pain -- we've been reading superhero early readers for EONS in this house and I am ALL ready to be done with those! I talk a lot about female superheroes in order to keep reminding the kids that they exist...the whole X-Men universe is helpful in that regard (I also include characters like the Princess in Black and Buffy). I hope the upcoming DC Superhero Girls books will be awesome, or at least not agonizing to read...) :)Tuinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-657368378863560055.post-77560173175887992292016-02-08T04:06:30.771-05:002016-02-08T04:06:30.771-05:00Book festivals are fun and it is a great idea taki...Book festivals are fun and it is a great idea taking your kids there.
