A friend of mine pointed out that many of the books we were reading aloud to our children (e.g. Ramona), were books that we read by ourselves which necessarily meant we read them at a slightly older age. I am nearly positive I read Ramona myself but I do remember my mom reading Little House on the Prairie and All-of-a-Kind-Family to us. At the time I was old enough to have read them myself as well. Does that sound a little contradictory? Well, maybe it is - I'm a bit conflicted on this issue.

So, here's the question - which books do we read to our kids and which do we let them read and discover on their own? There's something wonderful about reading a book yourself and feeling it is your private world and something equally wonderful, but different, about sharing a book with someone.Even in Australiahttp://eveninaustraliakidlit.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-657368378863560055.post-80842963612481544942011-06-28T09:17:59.363-04:002011-06-28T09:17:59.363-04:00I LOVED Pippi as a child.
